The Latest and Greatest at the Disneyland Resort in 2016

WDW Attractions Lifestyle Shoot

For those who have not been keeping up, Disneyland is now known as the Disneyland Resort.  Of course, the Disneyland Resorts consists of Disneyland, now officially referred to as the Disneyland Park, the Disney California Adventure, otherwise known to Disney aficionados as “DCA,” three surrounding Disney hotels and the Downtown Disney, shopping, dining and entertainment complex.

As we head into 2016, there are a number of exciting developments at the Disneyland Resort that are sure to lure back families who love the Disneyland experience. Among the biggest change the park is the construction of the new Star Wars Land attraction. The new Star Wars Land promises to bring even more fans into the park as it will have at least 2 Star Wars themed attractions, areas for character meet and greets, Star Wars themed dining and all-encompassing sets that re-create the Star Wars experience. Unfortunately to make way for this new attraction, a number of old standbys at the Disneyland Park have had to be closed, some temporarily and some even permanently.

Sadly, the beloved Big Thunder Ranch, with its delicious all you can eat and affordably-priced ribs and chicken will be gone forever to make room for this much anticipated addition to the Disneyland Park.  Rides and attractions on the Rivers of America, such as the Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes, Tom Sawyer Island, and Fantasmic! as well as the iconic Disneyland Railroad, are temporarily shut down until sometime before Star Wars Land is completed in 2018.

For those who can’t wait until 2018, there are still lots of exciting things to do at the Disneyland Resort this year, especially at DCA.  Disney Imagineers are never satisfied with what they’ve achieved so far and are continually seeking new way to bring people back to the parks.  For starters, for those who have cherished  the Soarin’ Over California ride experience are sure to love the new upgraded version of it called, Soarin’ Around the World, which be launched in the summer of 2016 at DCA.  In DCA’s Cars Land, the new Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters ride just rolled in on March 2016 and replaces the Lugi’s Flying Tires ride.

And last, but not least, a new live Frozen musical show will be making its debut the Hyperion Theater at DCA in the summer of 2016. Of course, the Disneyland will be having its usual special events like the Mickey’s Halloween Party on selective dates in the September to October timeframe.  Note that this is a separately priced event with people being able to dress up in their own Halloween customers, albeit with some restrictions due to security concerns. Another great event, which is actually not an official Disney event, held in Disney parks in the US as well as in France is Dapper Days.

Dapper Days at the Disneyland Resort will be held on Sunday May 1 and again on Saturday November 6.  What’s a Dapper Day, you say?  Dapper Days are when people dress up in their finest attire, usually in early 1900s themed clothing; so that they can look, in a word, “dapper.”  To many, Dapper Days have become the most enjoyable times to visit the Disney parks, and the Disneyland Resort is no exception.
